Buy Local, Buy Fresh in South Carolina at the Country Carrot

I’m trying to put into words the vibe you get when you enter The Country Carrot. The vision that comes to mind is a magical store full of treasures like a store you might see in the fabled town of Hogsmeade. But instead of discovering bottles of potions and magical candy, you will discover treasures from local farms, chefs, and creators. At The Country Carrot, you get the opportunity to buy local, buy fresh because everything in the store is made, you guessed it, locally!

The products change with the season so every trip is another exciting adventure full of discovery. In the warmer months, you will find loads of fruits and vegetables and in the winter months, you might find anything from canned pickled vegetables to teas and hot sauces.

On my latest trip, I explored shelves full of all things pickled (I bought some pickled okra), delicious jams, and spicy hot sauces, rubs, and seasonings.

After I finished exploring all of the jars and bottles, I wandered over to a wooden display, which was adorned with a variety of coffees and teas. I bought an Elderberry Tea Blend, which contained not only immune-supporting elderberry but also mood-boosting, Lemon Balm. I even spotted a local sangria mix on this beverage mixes shelf.

Next, I opened a freezer. I felt like I was opening a secret box because the freezer didn’t have a glass door. For some reason, I liked that I had to open it to see what was inside. What would be inside? Turns out, it was fresh meat from local farms!

Below, you can peek inside one of their glass-door fridges. I am super excited about those vegetable quiches and the goat cheese is AMAZING, btw!

Um, those vegetable quiches look amazing!

You can also find local probiotic-rich kombucha, eggs, milk, and energy drinks in one of their fridges. I am coming back for so many things, but one of them is the local gut-healthy kombucha!

Buy a Fun Bag and Get 5% OFF When you Use it to Shop at Your Future Visits

Bags with “fun sayings” pulled me in like a magnet. I just had to purchase the one that said “Turnip the Beet” because dietitians cannot resist food puns. It’s scientifically proven (okay maybe not scientifically proven, but seriously, ask any dietitian. It’s a thing). I am anxious to get back to the store to get my hands on the “Let that Shiitake Go” bag.
